Thanks to KC, Tesla gets to attend Noi's elementary school for 1 week. The staff welcomed us with open arms, and I'm grateful for the the attention and warmth they are providing for Tesla. Frankly, Tesla can't follow much, but to experience the rhythm and be surrounded by Japanese words will be memorable indeed.
And I have to say I'm really proud of Tesla for being open to this. While excited for a challenge, I'm sure she was nervous, but she just went along. Here is her meeting her teacher on Monday, and getting introduced to the class.
She said "my name is Tesla" in Japanese, and the whole class clapped for her : ) I had to go buy indoor shoes for her, so stopped by to drop them off a few hours into the day. Tesla came over to grab them, but went right back to her desk which made me so happy since I half expected her to ask me to stay.
This picture below reminds me of myself...my first day arriving in Japanese school, right about Tesla's age. Only instead of a month, it was permanent for me. I remember being self-consciousness and bewildered. Again, I'm so proud Tesla is doing this...
I picked her up at 3pm. While she didn't get what was going on a lot, she said it was a fun day. We then walked to Aila's preschool to pick her up.
Tuesday happened to be a field trip about the police, firehouse, and water treatment stations. I had to make a bento for her, and we're staying at a hotel so I bought goodies at the market and used a knife that the hotel staff kindly lent me.
Since Aila's school is farther than Tesla's school, I was worried about the walk for Aila, and borrowed KC's stroller. Here is Tesla pushing Aila. Once we dropped off Tesla, Aila then pushed the stroller herself most of the way. The stroller is more a fun toy now but I'm sure it'll be handy coming home.
2nd day: Tesla is wearing her new dress, looking more like the other girls at school : )
