At home massage - ahhhhhhhhh

I do love a massage, but I had never had one right at home. For Christmas, Dav got me a gift certificate from Sky Dancing Body Work. Scott, otherwise known as Sky, only does home calls. It took a while to figure schedules out, but I finally had my appointment on Friday.

It's been a while since my last massage, so I obviously just loved it for that. But I must say, Sky is pretty amazing. He used a lot of stretching while massaging, and worked on my sockets (don't know how else to describe it) - where the arm and legs connect to the body by gently pulling and circulating those joints while massaging. It was very effective. Sky is also known for his big hands (see comparison to my hand below). He is quite tall and towered over me. He gave Dav a big bear hug, picking him up off the ground to allow his spine to stretch out. Dav said he hadn't experienced being picked up like that since he was a kid.

Anyway, Sky's lovely large hands made the massage very fluid, and really, as if something else other than hands were working on my body. It was like some perfected massaging, rolling machine that was so smooth you couldn't really tell what was going on.

Then after the massage, to wrap myself in jammies, and basically nap right on the sofa until Dav and I went to bed early, that was the best. No getting back in a car, etc. We've scheduled another session since I want Dav to experience this, although Dav wanted me to have another session. We'll battle over trying to give each other the session.

I highly recommend Sky's work.

Hinasama - Girls Day, 2010

A bit belated since Girls Day is March 3rd, and the dolls should be put away shortly after, but Dav had the camera at SXSW, and I wanted to wait to get our annual pics. This year, Tesla had more context since they celebrated Hinamatsuri at pre-school, and she seemed to remember her own dolls. I still didn't let her help me set it up since they are very delicate; maybe next year.

In addition to birthdays, this is another annual marker. Here is 2008 and 2009.

Dav is home!!

This picture was actually just after I got back from Tokyo, totally appreciating our family, glad to see the comforting image of Dav and T. I never got around to posting it, but it seems perfect now, since Dav is back home after being in Austin for 10 days for SXSW. I really treasured my time alone with T, and my own time to do my projects and catch up on organizing the house. But we definitely missed Daddy-o, and being back all together is just how it really should be.

Dance Class

I took Tesa to a casual drop-in dance class for kids. It was very free-flowing with minimum "do this" instructions, and instead was just a lot of fun with some lessons integrated within. Today must have been a light day, since there were 4 kids to 3 teachers! There was a part where each kid got a turn to dance across the room the way they wanted, and all of us followed. The kids beamed as they saw us copying their steps.

At times, T was shy, but for the most part she ran around having fun. I got the "let's go again" approval, so we will!

Dav saw my earlier hovering cat post, and sent this. Folks at his company, Lumosity, had put this up internally. I keep coming back to this; it's too funny.

Tokyo Catch up: Tsukiji dinner with Mieko-san

A bit late as life keeps zooming on (it does get faster and faster doesn't it?), but I wanted to document a lovely, special dinner I had with Mieko-san. Usually when we meet up, it's along with a group, either the old group we used to always hang with when I lived in Tokyo, or with other Tokyoites I try to meet each time I'm back). This time, it was just us; I loved it.

We ate a restaurant in Tsukiji (world's largest fish market), close to where she works since she had to go back to work after our dinner. I'm so glad I got to have her time in spite her super packed schedule. We had such fresh seafood! But really, I simply enjoyed our precious one-on-one time. I really miss Mieko-san.

Slowly I'm documenting T finally wearing   pieces from the cutest basket of clothes Mieko-san got T last last time I was in Tokyo. Mieko-san is totally T's auntie.

We miss Dav

 

    T and I have fun,

    but Daddy is truly missed.

time change

This was the first year that the time change could have been difficult since last year, T was young enough where she was sleeping well either way. And I'm happy to say, it hasn't been hard with her. Today (2nd day), she went to bed at "8:30" although for her body it's still 7:30 (her usual bedtime is 8:00).

For mama, waking up earlier is the harder part. But below is what I got to see when I awoke; a gorgeous sunrise reflection. 

  

And as I got ready, T played alone for a bit. When we were ready to leave, I found this cute scene. (I like how the mama figure is the only one getting to sit in a chair!)

Perfect Saturday

I, of course, miss Dav when he's away, but also enjoy a change in daily rhythm. T and I discover new things together, and I get my own stuff done. This past Saturday, I invited Manisha and Elida over for dinner. I dedicated the whole day for this, so after luxuriously spending time in the morning putting the menu together, T and I went to the local coffee shop for breakfast, then we went food shopping in the morning.

Once that was done, I did a bit of prep here and there, then T and I had a nice afternoon nap. Later, I invited our neighbor Firefly over to play so I could cook while they did, well what 2 active girl pals would do. Seemed like entire house was covered in toys! But I loved the non-hurried cooking for the evening.

After Firefly left, T had a bath. Right at T's bedtime, Elida and Manisha arrived so they could say Hi, then shortly after, we sat down to enjoy a lovely dinner.

It was special since it was a day/evening that probably wouldn't have happened if Dav were around; we'd have other things to do, and I wouldn't have spent the whole day leisurely prepping the food, and including a nap. I thoroughly enjoyed the Saturday from morning to night.
