Six Apart acquired by VideoEgg.
End of an era since I've been with 6A pretty much since the beginning, working in that old dental office, hammering away on emails seated between the CEO and President. We used to all go to lunch together way back then.
I got married and had a daughter while at 6A. I got to be totally open about who I am (i.e. a Burner), and got to work closely with Tokyo, my home.
It's a new chapter, and this makes sense in many ways. But this is a biggie...no more "Six Apart" where we called ourselves Six Aparters. Just noting the occasion with a bit of sadness, but also it's time for a new chapter.
I was surprised about the news, but I believe Six Aparters will do well adapting a new environment - hope this is a great challenge for you to become more advanced in your life.

WOW! I can only imagine how that feels. I find escaped from large corporate mongrel (Roche) to a small software startup (Mercury), who was acquired by HP within a year of me being there. Pretty much almost no one thought Mercurians would last more than a year, but here we all are, four years later. Best wishes during the transition!

I was telling someone the other day about when the firefighters had to come into the San Mateo office because we had the wiring so screwy.
Six Apart's introduced me to people I'd genuinely consider family and best friends. And you were the first person to take a chance on me. I'll always appreciate our friendship for that especially.
Totally not getting sentimental at all over here. Nope. Not me. *sniffle*

How could I forget those firemen who came to check up on the snarle of wires below our desk? ha!
I agree...Six Apart has taught me how I like to work as in the ambiance, the people, the mission, etc. My standards are very high now, since I know it's possible to have an awesome company and work with true friends.
Will always keep Six Apart fondly in my heart. Hard to let go, like a child going off to college - it must happen, but already?
I am excited for changes though : )

7 years ago you were the star at the world's first "moblogging" conference in Tokyo. I was there in the audience. I guess the term "moblogging" didn't stick, but of course, everyone blogs by their mobile devices now. We were all totally engaged learning about what you were doing - and I remember you seemed as surprised as anyone at all the attention (in those days you were appearing on CNN and in the newspapers).
The other star of that conference was a professor from Keio University who showed us that in the future, we'd be able to point our mobile devices at almost anything, and be able to get information downloaded quickly from various sources. Today, I downloaded the Google Goggles app to my iPhone, which does exactly that.
So yes, the world has turned a few times since your beginnings in San Francisco! Good luck on your next adventures.

Thank you, for remembering that conference. Little did we know how special and momentous it would be. And gosh, thanks for following my little journey from Tokyo to S.F., from a start-up to the next project. I am looking forward to a new phase - been good, but change is good too.
So cool we have this rather historical connection!!
