I'll provide the link to give more details about dorkbot, but we're hearing about the growth of independent CG animation creators = putting thought into action for many people (democratization), got to see how a CG character is made (1 week just for the head), time-lapse collage of graffiti showing SF's work and how they create it (see grafarc.org; 19th Street is amazing), clothing with lights embedded so the jacket flashes with changing images (!) (very cool) that also respond to sound levels (see video).

That was a fun dorkbot, although some of the speakers could easily have sliced 15 minutes or more out of their presentiation.

To see the amazing 19th street part Mie mentioned, load that site and select 19th Street North. Then use the navigation/zoom stuff at the bottom left to get the image sized properly. Finally use the M and N keys to cycle through the time lapse photography. The series done through the month of November 2003 shows a work in progress, and it really is pretty amazing to see how it evolves.
