I am horrible at keeping secrets, so I'm happy to finally get to spill the beans. It's about that art project I referred to a while ago, and it's why I haven't been going out much since I've been so freaking tired. In addition to being called our art project, we have called it Little Bug. Yep, I'm due July 2nd!
This picture here is when we got my parents on iSight and told them the good news. My mom teared up, and my dad said, "great work!"
I got to hear the heartbeat last week. That was wild. My tummy is definitely sticking out, but it's really hard to believe there is a life growing inside me. When I last went to the doctor's, I half expected her to say, "hmmm, seems to be gone," so hearing the heartbeat was reassuring, but also made me admire my body. The process is actually working! When Dav, Katsuo, Wakame and I are all snuggled up in bed, I now think we have 5 beating hearts on one bed.
When Dav and I babysat Tyler and Julia, Nicole left the kindest comment. Little did she know that we already had thought about it, and already had a bun in the oven!
Dav has started taking weekly photos which I hope we can turn into a sorta animated show of a belly growing. I must say, it's a pleasure sharing this with Dav, and I love having him hold and rub my belly. We've got a lot of adjustments to go through, but it's quite an exciting project, no?

whoa, hey! that's fantastic news! many congratulations!

Hee hee! Thank you for having shared your secret project with me! One thing I was waiting to say was that the day you posted about your babysitting adventures with your niece and nephew... I had thought "wow they are going to be great parents, I wonder when they'll have kids?". I think it was the next day or so that you told me your expectations! So very exciting. You both are going to make wonderful beautiful babies and provide a funky environmental full of fun and love for your family. I can't wait to see that big ol' belly! Best of health wishes to you and merry christmas!

Yay! I don't know how your other friends with kids feel, but in my opinion when a kid enters the picture, love increases exponentially. And the love you feel for Dav? It will be 1000 times more for your kid together. At least that's how I feel about my two sons. :) Oh - and when I was preggos with Jacob, the best book I ever read was 'What to Expect When You are Expecting'. It is VERY popular, because it's a GREAT book. If you don't have it, I highly recommend it. If you don't have it and are too tired to get it, I will buy it for you - it's that good! Anyway, congratulations! Yay! Oh, and are you keeping a journal? With both of my sons, I kept letters written to them. (although my hubby reformatted the hd where my second son's were, so those are lost forever. I recommend paper copy.) The pictures idea is a good one. Have you thought about a belly cast? Ooh! And now you get to wear all those cute maternity clothes! Or you get to make some! :) yay you two!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am so happy for you both! Will the baby come to Burning Man this year? Burner baby! If you ever need a babysitter, just let me know, seriously. I love babies--especially ones with parents as awesome as you and Dav. Omedetoo Gozaimasu!

Thank you everyone! This is indeed quite a trip and fascinating too. Can't believe we only have until early July to get used to this.
Been catching up with friends - my old party friends from high school - who have tons of kids now. Sounds like we are in for a shift in how we spend our time...but it sure sounds worth it. Tons of funny stories. Anyhow, wish us luck!
Laura, thank you for your sweet comment. Haven't started a journal...I suppose I shall do most of my documenting on Kokochi. But about loving Dav 1000 times more...we're already enjoying this special project that's just between us. I'm so glad to have him as a partner and totally can see him as a great dad (he's already sweeter to my kitties). I don't know how I can contain more love for Dav without exploding, but I believe you. It's a very unique bond we've created and I love it!
