I just got the Marrow Messenger in the mail today, a publication from the National Marrow Donor Program. I've been registered as a donor for many years. Never been called up though. I initially signed up after reading that the registry needs mixed race people.
Tis the season to give, so I thought I'd put it out there that it is important to register in case you are open to it. Someone one day may live longer because of your bone marrow.

I registered a couple of years ago when a friend of a friend had leukemia and promptly forgot about it until a phone call in September. I was a possible match and would I go to the Red Cross and give a sample of blood.
Fast forward through a couple of intermediary steps, signing a lot of release forms, a 3 hour physical yesterday, to Jan. 3rd - I will be donating marrow via the stem cell collection. My marrow cells will be going to a 60 year old woman with acute leukemia. I truly hope she will live to see her grandchildren get married.
Truth be told, the process is a bit scary, but hopefully it will be worth it.
smiles, jen ;o)
p.s. Mie - I got a 7610 yesterday. Do you mind if I email you to ask a few techie questions?

So we have yet even more in common, don't we?
Charlie (Nokia) came by the office today and said he had met you. And when he first saw you, he thought you were another "Mie"! And now we'll be moblogging with the same awesome phone. I'm so excited to hear how the project goes.
